In my book Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma the main character Chloe and her sister Ruby have a great sisterly friendship. I think that they are a great example of how siblings should act toward one another. They support each other and love each other.
"Chloe could swim this whole thing, there and back".Ruby said this because she knows her sister can do it, she believes in her. Ruby believes in her sister 100% and i think that it is important to believe in your sibling. This makes them feel better about themselves and it shows your there for them. Chloe and Ruby are role models they show that your sibling is your best friend. The one you can lean on, the one that believes in you, and the one who you can come to in the hardest of times.
"Ruby tried to convince my dad.""She tried in all the ways she was used to trying: her eyes staring down until no light could escape and there was nowhere else to look but straight at her." When Chloe had to leave Ruby, she came right back to Chloe. The reason for that is because she missed her. When you spend most of your life taking care and loving your sibling, when they leave it is never the same again. Its like something out of place or missing. For example, " there's been no one to eat my baby corns". Ruby and Chloe would order from a place, when the ordered Chloe would eat the baby corns that Ruby didn't want. Imagine you did that with your sibling and when they leave you sit there staring at them knowing their going to be thrown out because your sibling is not there to eat them. That makes you miss them even more.
Hey Talyah :) This is a really sweet post, and I thought that it's nice to see a post that doesn't necessarily touch on issues that make you want to curl up in the fetal position and die :P Anyway, having a twin I totally understand what you mean- today it's the "norm" to say you hate your siblings, and I admit, I don't exactly have a perfect relationship with my brother, but it's really great to see someone talk about amiable sibling relationships instead of horrible ones.
ReplyDeleteTALYHA!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really liked you're post i mean your summary of the book saying how these 2 sisters are like best-friends. I thought about how I act with my sisters and we really aren't lets hold hands and dance in the meadow. But we aren't trying to tear watch other eyes out. But how the little things like eat my corn matter. And when there gone the really little thing does matter and affect your life. And that does make you miss them even more.
I agree with Johanna, this is a really sweet post! I think that it is great. Personally, I can connect to your thesis. My older brother and I have disagreements, but in the end, we are there for each other, just like you mentioned in your post. Even though your brother is only half a year old, you have a close relationship with him. SIblings have a huge impact on your life, and I'm glad you recognized that in your post.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Talyah because siblings should be the ones that you can always look for when you need help. They are the ones you always know you can depend on. I do agree with that they are the role models for what siblings are supposed to be like. I mean like Tasfia said those little things are the ones that you miss the most. Though there is one thing I don't completely aree with you Tasfia. I think that siblings are inportant in life, but I don't think that they are the ones that shape up your life. It would be most likely how you would affect your younger siblings and the way they act towards them amd the other siblings. I feel that it would be your surroundings that shape up your world. But always in the end, that without them there is no happiness in life. you always miss them no matter what you say to them. :)
