I just finished reading an article called Hug a Hoodie: What the U.K. teaches us about making a sweatshirt a symbol. This article was about a teenage boy name Trayvon Martin who lost his life in february, because someone thought he was a threat, even though he was unarmed and just walking by. This article also teaches the reader about the symbol of the hoodies, well the many symbols it has. Because the truth is it can be different to all of us. Some of us might think it poses a threat, some might think it is to blend in, and maybe even to look cool. The author of the article wants us to know all the different meaning of hoodie. The author speaks about how a hoodie could be used or meant for different things. For example, in the U.K. the hoodie is "associated with low-income people up to no good."Some british say "it captures the medium's defiant posture."And some people just say They're a way to stay invisible in the street." Everyone has a different opinion about hoodies whether it is good or bad. I don't think anyone should be criticized because of something they wear and how they wear it. It's only clothes, right? It is not something to be judged for like our actions or sometimes the words we say. No one should be judged from the clothes they were. Its not like we are in kindergarten again. If someone wants to wear a hoodie, let them. It doesn't define who you are as a person. You should never judge a book by its cover, just like you shouldn't judge a person just because they are wearing a hoodie. Maybe they even have a reason for wearing it.But it doesn't really matter because it doesn't show who you really are, whether you are a good or bad person. |

TALYAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really do agree with your post that its silly to judge people by their clothing. But I think there are going to still to be people in this world that judge people on how they look and how they dress. But it's sad that when people are judge they can be killed.
I agree that it is very childish to judge someone simply by what they were wearing. It is simply ridiculous to make fun of someone because of what they are wearing, but to lose a life? That is just ridiculous. I know about the Trayvon Martin case, and he wasn't just considered a threat because of what he was wearing. Someone thought that he might have been using drugs or alcohol, which is part of the reason that he was killed. Saying that, I very much agree with this.
